The Fix by David Baldacci, 432 pages

"The Fix" is book #3 in Baldacci's Amos Decker series.  Amos and his FBI crew are back.  This time, instead of working on a cold case, they work to solve a murder that happened right in front of Amos.  The team ends up in an uneasy alliance with an agent from the Defense Intelligence Agency as they all work together to solve the crime, or do they?

I enjoyed listening to this book.  It was a thriller that kept me entertained throughout.

Shine Shine Shine by Lydia Netzer, 309 pages

I listen to most of the books I blog about, but my sister suggested this book to me and we had a print copy, but not an audio version, so I read this one.

This is a quirky book about Sunny, her husband Maxon, and their son Bubber.  Sunny was born with a condition that makes her completely bald.  Maxon and Bubber are both on the autism spectrum.  Sunny and Maxon have been in love since they were children.

Sunny is about 9 months pregnant, Maxon is on his way to the moon on a NASA mission and Sunny's mother, Emma is in a hospital dying.

Sunny and Maxon live in a perfect suburban house in a perfect suburban neighborhood and no one there knows Sunny is bald.  She took to wearing wigs before Bubber was born.  Sunny is holding it together until there is a car accident and her wig flies out the car.  The whole neighborhood now knows perfect Sunny isn't so perfect after all.  Will they still love her? 

Sunny and those of us lucky enough to read this story learn that we all have secrets we're glad the whole world doesn't know and no one is perfect and yes, we're still lovable anyway.

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, 295 pages

This was a charming little book.  The story is told in the voice of Dr. Don Tillman, a of professor Genetics at an Australian University.  Don knows he is wired differently than most people.  As the reader, and yes I did read and not listen to this one, it is obvious he is on the autism spectrum.

Don is 39 years old and wants to find a wife so begins The Wife Project.  He gets sidetracked on The Father Project, helping Rosie, one of The Wife Project rejects, find her biological father.  Hilarity, sweetness and growth ensues.

Much of the humor in the book comes from the perspective that Don gives on an situation or conversation he had.  There's not a lot of character development, but the story works.
