Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen 294 pages

This is another magical gem from Sarah Addison Allen.  Kate has been "asleep" for a year, ever since her husband was killed riding his bike.  She checked out of life.  Finally, when her senses start to return, she finds that her pushy mother n law has taken over, sold her house and the bicycle repair business, enrolled her daughter, Devin, in a private school, and make plans for Kate to come to work for her in her real estate office.  All these plans are derailed when Kate finds a forgotton postcard in a trunk in the attic. It is for Lost Lake, a property owned by Kate's great-Aunt Eby.  Kate's best summer ever was spent at Lost Lake when she was 12.  Kate and Devin escape to the lake.  They find Eby and her electic group of summer regulars ready to close up the cabins.  Eby has received an offer on the property and has plans to travel again in Europe.  But magical things can happen on a warm summer's evening.  Old loves renew, old wounds heal, and sometimes, if you look closely, magic can happen.  It has been three years since this author published the "Peach Keeper".  I had wondered what had happened to her.  In her Acknowledgments at the end of the book she states, "In early 2011, I was surprised by a diagnosis of advanced-stage breast cancer.  I couldn't see it then, but that year of horrible change brought me to an amazing place in my life."  She just celebrated her 2nd year in remission.
