This is a collection of short stories
I just plucked from the new book shelf, and I am delighted to have found
it. I think it has been a long time
since I read stories like this about Southerners and I enjoyed them. In two of the stories the characters think
things and then wonder if, in fact, they have spoken aloud. There is a lot of depth to the characters,
even in the shorter stories. One story
ends with no period after the last word, and it makes sense.
One character exclaims, “happy damn!”,
which is how I felt while reading these well written stories.
