The short stories in this book are all
about people, usually in their 20s or 30s, who are struggling with self-doubt,
self-definition, and purpose in life.
The dialogue is crisp, even when the decisions of the characters is
muddled. Some of the characters are unsure
of their sexuality and some are unsure of what their commitments to their
partners mean to them.
I enjoyed this book and the
writing. Also by Alice Elliott Dark: In
the Gloaming: Stories; and Think of England: A Novel. Both excellent reads.
